Patriotic fervour, federating or demobilising discourses, resistance, conscientious objection, injury and trauma, propaganda and counter-propaganda contribute to the shaping of individual and collective memory and further the reconsideration of long-held truths in the light of new discoveries and with the benefit of hindsight.
The mediatisation, performance, interpretation and rewriting of facts and events during and after wars will be central to our reflexions. We welcome diachronic, synchronic or comparative studies along with those questioning the process of memory and memorisation. There will be a dedicated Great War workshop.
All submissions will be considered after the deadline of 25th June 2013. We will not be able to give you any news concerning the acceptance of your work before that date.
Please send your abstract (250 words) and biography (200 words) directly to the conference website. You will need to create an account in the Submission section before filling up the fields required and uploading your document.

The "War Memories" Conference Team is extremely sad to anounce the suden death of our dear colleague and friend Professor Jean-Claude Sergeant, who was a member of the Scientific Committee and was to chair one of the Workshops. His absence is a tremendous loss to our Scientific Community and he will be greatly missed by us all.
